Luanne Oleas

Luanne Oleas
Luanne Oleas

Luanne Oleas, a Salinas native, was a weekly columnist at the Salinas Californian newspaper as well as a
reporter and features writer. Reprints of her articles appeared In Readers Digest, Parenting Magazine,
and the San Jose Mercury News. She moved to Silicon Valley and worked as a technical writer while
writing her novels.

Her novel, FLYING BLIND, A Cropduster’s Story, is set in Steinbeck’s Salinas Valley in the 1970s. It’s the
story of an irreverent cropduster and the radical priest he teaches how to fly. It exposes the little-known
subculture of agricultural aviation and the small-town clashes that arise when traditions are ignored.

Her other novel, A PRIMROSE IN NOVEMBER, is a family saga set in England and France. Her upcoming
novel, WHEN ALICE PLAYED THE LOTTERY, is about a widow who reinvents herself on reality TV after
winning the lottery. She is currently writing a novel, tentatively titled SHEDDING CATS, about a technical
writer who has too many cats and no significant relationship. In real life, Luanne has only one cat,
Blackberry.
