The California Writers Club (CWC)
We are one of the oldest and largest writers’ clubs in America, with 22 branches across the state. Total membership is over 2200. Your membership in the Sacramento Branch includes many benefits, not just with at the branch but also across statewide branches.
CWC was formed in Oakland in 1909, which included Jack London and Ina Coolbrith. Sacramento was the first branch to open in 1925.
The CW Sacramento is open to professional and aspiring writers and all non-writing literary experts such as editors and publishers. We also welcome artists, as this helps book cover design and childrens book illustrations.
We hold 2 monthly meetings featuring speakers, and opportunities for networking with your fellow members.
If you are still unsure, please come visit us at one of our meetings. Meetings are free and we always welcome new people.
CWC is a nonprofit educational corporation.
Our moto is Writers helping writers. In fact, the CWC central board coined this phrase.
Members write novels, short stories, screen plays, poetry, nonfiction articles and books, and much more. A significant number of our member writers are published. We boast this expertise to show that we have much to offer.
