Cheryl Anne Stapp writes nonfiction California history. She is the author of Wild Wicked Woman – The Life of a Gold Rush Courtesan (2022); Rise, Ruin & Restoration – A History of Sutter’s Fort (2018); award-winning Before The Gold Rush – The Sinclairs of Rancho del Paso 1840-1849  (2017); award-winning Disaster & Triumph: Sacramento Women, Gold Rush Through the Civil War (2012); Sacramento Chronicles – A Golden Past  (2013); and The Stagecoach in Northern California: Rough Rides, Gold Camps, and Daring Drivers  (2014). Virginia A. Simpson, Ph.D. FT, is a Bereavement Care Specialist with more than 30 years of experience working with the dying and grieving.  She holds a Fellowship in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education & Counseling (ADEC), and is the Executive Counseling Director for hundreds of funeral homes throughout the United States and Canada. Simpson’s articles have appeared in publications throughout the world.
