Cheryl Stapp

Cheryl Anne Stapp writes nonfiction California history. She is the author of Wild Wicked Woman – The Life of a Gold Rush Courtesan (2022); Rise, Ruin & Restoration – A History of Sutter’s Fort (2018); award-winning Before The Gold Rush – The Sinclairs of Rancho del Paso 1840-1849  (2017); award-winning Disaster & Triumph: Sacramento Women, Gold Rush Through the Civil War (2012); Sacramento Chronicles – A Golden Past  (2013); and The Stagecoach in Northern California: Rough Rides, Gold Camps, and Daring Drivers  (2014). A graduate of California State University, Northridge, Cheryl was a contributing editor to Working World magazine in Los Angeles for five years, while working in the entertainment industry. She lives with her husband in Sacramento—in bygone days an important gold rush town, and the largest staging center in the nation. She is a volunteer docent at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. Virginia A. Simpson

 

Virginia A. Simpson, Ph.D. FT, is a Bereavement Care Specialist with more than 30 years of experience working with the dying and grieving.  She holds a Fellowship in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education & Counseling (ADEC), and is the Executive Counseling Director for hundreds of funeral homes throughout the United States and Canada. Simpson’s articles have appeared in publications throughout the world.

In 2016, Dr. Simpson’s first book, The Space Between: A Memoir of Mother-Daughter Love at the End of Life was published. It has won First Place for best memoir from the Sarton Story Circle, Readers View Awards (also Best book from West Pacific), and Independent Press Award, won a Reader’s Favorite bronze medal, and was a Finalist in the 11th Annual National Indie Excellence Book Awards, 5th Annual Beverly Hills Book Awards, and 2017 International Book Awards.

Amy Rogers

 

Amy Rogers, MD, PhD, is a Harvard-educated scientist, novelist, journalist, educator, critic, and publisher who specializes in all things science-y. Her novels Petroplague,  Reversion, and The Han Agent use real science and medicine to create plausible, frightening scenarios in the style of Michael Crichton. Formerly a microbiology professor, she is the founder of ScienceThrillers Media publishing, an Active member of International Thriller Writers, and serves as treasurer for Northern California Publishers and Authors. Ann O. Chehak

 

Ann Chehak’s love of nature and penchant for wandering the trails and streams of California offer inviting and scenic backdrops for her stories. Ann launched her writing career drafting information technology manuals and project management plans and now writes adventurous mystery novels where the hero and heroine join forces to solve crime and find love in the end. Margaret Duarte

 

Margaret Duarte, a current board member of CWC, Sacramento and former middle school teacher, lives on a family-owned-and-operated dairy farm with a herd of “happy cows,” a constant reminder that the greenest pastures are closest to home. Margaret earned her creative writing certificate through UC Davis Extension and has since published two novels in her “Enter the Between” visionary fiction series: Between Will and Surrender and Between Darkness and Dawn. Her poem and story credits include SPC Tule Review, The California Writers Club Literary Review, finalist in the 2017 SLO Nightwriters Golden Quill Writing Contest, and First Place winner for fiction in the 2016 Northern California Publishers and Authors Book Awards Competition. She is a founding member of the Visionary Fiction Alliance, dedicated to encouraging the evolution and embracement of visionary fiction. The VFA was awarded one of the top fifty blogs and websites for fiction book readers and authors at the content reader, Feedspot.
