Founded in 1909, the California Writers Club prides itself in being one of the nation’s oldest and most distinguished professional clubs. Bearing a rich tradition created by members united in their love of writing, the club maintains 21 chartered branches and 1800 members throughout the state. Members benefit from the unique support of sister branches that freely share resources, speaker information, and effective practices in furthering membership progress toward their goals..
Members bring an interest in improving writing craft, publishing their work, and marketing their brand. Some members have attained high levels of accomplishment while others are just starting out. All members are appreciated. Members write articles, short stories, poetry, and plays. Many have published books. The club offers a safe climate for sharing and learning and a wellspring for inspiring creativity.
The Sacramento Branch offers a warm writing community through monthly membership meeting, a network meeting, and an Open Mic held at a local bookstore. Members enjoy critique and special interest groups as well as workshops and seminars in writing, publishing and marketing. A monthly newsletter keeps members informed on upcoming events.
