Michel Inaba wrote her first poem when she was a young teen. It was a tribute to her infant cousin who was born neurologically compromised. She found that writing was useful for understanding her feelings and placing experiences, especially challenging ones, in perspective. She has continued to write primarily for self-reflection, although she enjoys sharing her work within the writing community.
Michel majored in Comparative Literature at Indiana University and then switched her academic interest to psychology. She holds a Master’s Degree in School Psychology and a Doctorate in Developmental Psychology. She uses writing as a therapeutic tool in her practice as a psychologist and teaches meditation in the community.
