Kimberly Wiley, MD, is a busy family practice doctor at Kaiser in South Sacramento. She dreamed of being a doctor since she was ten years old, even though she was not exposed to any role model physicians who were female or people of color until college. She has always been a voracious reader, but managed to find time for quilting and crochet. She earned her BA in economics, with a special interest in the Civil Rights era, followed by medical school at the University of California (UC) San Diego, and residency at UC Davis. Her interest in writing led her to join the editorial board of Kaiser’s physician newsletter Vital Lines. She also writes cozy mysteries, short stories, flash fiction, and poetry.
