Monthly Meeting, May 16 – Writing Historical Fantasy

Blending Historical Fiction with Fantasy

with

Linda C. McCabe

Author and Historian

Saturday, May 16

1:00 – 2:00  PM via Zoom

This meeting was recorded.  You can view it here.

Writing historical fiction requires extensive research on historical figures, settings, customs, etc., and decisions regarding dramatic license vs. adhering strictly to the historical record, while fantasy has its own rules regarding logic and consistency. Author Linda C. McCabe will discuss the craft of balancing the needs of historical fiction with drama and fantasy.

About the speaker:

Linda C. McCabe is the author of Quest of the Warrior Maiden and Fate of the Saracen Knight, an epic historic fantasy series set in the time of Charlemagne. She received a master’s degree as an historian of science from Sonoma State University, and loves to travel. To aid in her research, she traveled twice to France. Her first novel was honored by the Bay Area Independent Publishers Association’s 2013 awards.
