Getting Inside the Fighter’s Mentality
Friday, December 4, 2015, 9:00 a.m. – 11 a.m.
On Friday, December 4, 2015, Lisa Deines Wiggins, 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo, will address the CWC Sacramento Branch Writers Network breakfast meeting on “Getting Inside the Fighter’s Mentality.”
Everyone has dealt with conflict in their lives, but people handle that conflict in different ways. For those who write action scenes, it helps to know what motivates a fighter, to have a basic understanding of levels of fighting, and to know how a fighting mentality affects other areas of life. Lisa will talk about types of fighters (savior vs. destructive), fighting basics (evasion, deflection, disabling), and which mental tools translate into everyday life. She will also give recommendations on what not to include in your action scenes and how to keep the tension in your action.
Lisa Deines Wiggins is a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo, taught martial arts for 11 years, and has survived many life challenges, including thyroid cancer. She has self-published two Taekwondo-themed children’s books, and currently uses her martial arts training to do projects around the house and sit in a chair and write. Her blog is https://blackbelthousewife.wordpress.com.
Additionally, Lisa is the Writers Network Facilitator for our first Friday breakfast meetings. (Thanks Lisa!)
