The California Writers Club, Sacramento Branch’s monthly Writers Network’s breakfast meeting for February will feature Dahlynn McKowen and Ken McKowen on “Writing and Submitting Stories for Anthologies.”
Dahlynn and Ken are the owners of Publishing Syndicate and creators of the Not Your Mother’s Book (NYMB) anthology series. Titles released include NYMB . . . On Being a Woman, NYMB . . . On Being a Stupid Kid and NYMB . . . On Dogs. With the new NYMB anthology, and previously being coauthors/editors on many Chicken Soup for the Soul titles, they will share insights on writing true stories for anthologies and offer valuable tips for submitting stories.
Prior to launching the NYMB series, the McKowens spent 10 years creating Chicken Soup for the Soul books with Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. NYMB books are contemporary, fun and even daring! No sad, sappy or death and dying stories—EVER! They are looking for true stories for 30-plus new NYMB titles. For info and submission guidelines, visit their website PublishingSyndicate.com. They are also the authors of the national award-winner Best of California’s Missions, Mansions and Museums; Best of Oregon and Washington’s Mansions, Museums and More; The Wine-Oh! Guide to California’s Sierra Foothills; and Wine Wherever: In California’s Mid-Coast & Inland Region. Monthly, they publish the free Wow Principles e-newsletter.
Writers Network is held the first Friday of every month at 9 AM at the International House of Pancakes (IHOP), 2216 Sunrise Blvd., Rancho Cordova (just north of Highway 50). No fee; order and pay for your own breakfast. Get map
