The California Writers Club, Sacramento Branch’s monthly Writers Network’s breakfast meeting for January will feature Cheryl Stapp discussing “Taxes for Writers”.
Cheryl Stapp was born in Sacramento and graduated from local secondary schools. She moved to Los Angeles to go to college and earned her bachelor’s degree from Cal State University Northridge in accounting. She worked for a major accounting firm (which today, after several mergers, is known as Ernst and Young); a TV production company as Assistant Controller and Controller for about 15 years; and for a sports and entertainment company for about four years. Also while in Los Angeles, she was a contributing editor to Working World magazine. She returned to Sacramento in 2000 and married a local guy. She continued her education to accrue 150+ hours of income tax classes and worked for H&R Block for three seasons. She currently serves as the VP and Chair of Programs for the California Writers Club-Sacramento Branch and has been doing so since 2007. She is in the process of self-publishing her first book, a historical titled Disaster and Triumph: Sacramento Women, Gold Rush through the Civil War and is writing another Sacramento historical account for History Press, a traditional publisher.
