Enjoy 10 Minutes of Fame
Second Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Sign-ups begin at 6:45 p.m.
Sponsored by the California Writers Club, Sacramento Branch.
Open Mic is an opportunity to read your carefully composed words out loud to a sympathetic audience of your peers. While it is not a critique, it will give you the chance to see how people react to your story, memoir or chapter. Readings are limited to ten minutes per person. Content must be appropriate for a public audience.
Open Mic authors/readers participate to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences, and hear from others. The number of attendees varies from five to 15. They are a friendly bunch, prone to applause and appreciation for your bravery and brevity, and often stay after to chat about just about anything, including the topics addressed in the readings.
Don’t be surprised if bookstore patrons decide to join the group. You don’t have to be a child to appreciate story hour. Come join us, and bring a friend! Listeners are welcome too!
